How to configure zoom live class?

Documentation / Zoom Live Classes /

Before setting up a Zoom Live Class or Meeting, you must have an active Zoom account along with valid Zoom API credentials. If you don’t already have them, you can watch this step-by-step guide here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voJOIavlKTk.

To configure Zoom Live Class in FiNIMS, navigate to Zoom Live Classes > Settings. Enter your Zoom API Key and Zoom API Secret, then configure the options for Teacher API Credential and Zoom Client App Enable/Disable, and finally click on the Save button. The credentials entered here are considered the Global API Key in FiNIMS. We recommend using API credentials from a Zoom paid plan, since the free plan only allows a single class or meeting to run at one time.

  • If the Teacher API Credential option is disabled, all teachers will use the global API key and won’t be able to create their own credentials.

  • If it is enabled, teachers can add their own API details from their teacher account by clicking on the Add Credential button and host Live Classes using their personal API Key.

When the Zoom Client App option is enabled, users will need to install the Zoom Client App on their device. If disabled, there’s no need to install anything, as classes and meetings will run on Zoom Web SDK. However, since Zoom Web SDK is not as stable or feature-rich as the Zoom Client App, some features may not work as expected. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to use the Zoom Client App for smooth and complete Zoom services.

Note –

  1. If you are using Zoom Web SDK (with the Zoom Client App disabled), then your FiNIMS system must be running on SSL (https); otherwise, you may encounter error messages, and Zoom Classes or Meetings will fail to start.

  2. If you see an “Invalid access token” error message while creating a Zoom Live Class or Meeting, it means the API credentials you entered are incorrect. Please double-check and update your Zoom API credentials to fix this issue.
